2004 TVR Cerbera 4.2

One of the very last TVR Cerberas to be made, this fantastic example has been thoroughly cared for and offers the absolute best combination of TVR’s incredible AJP-V8 engine.

As one of the very last examples to be built, the final few Cerberas were some of the best and most exciting road going TVR’s ever made.

Technically termed 4.2 but featuring uprated Red Rose heads and 4.5 big ends, this was the ultimate development of TVR’s first entirely new and ‘in-house’ engine, the superb AJP-V8.

With its narrow head and flat-plane crank, the AJP began life as a Formula One design capable of squeezing into a tiny 22inch cube. The naturally aspirated V8 produced figures of close to 100bhp per litre – something that was virtually unheard of at the time. This still remains an incredible feat even by today’s standards, particularly when you consider that TVR was a small and independent producer of hand built cars.

The AJP placed TVR in an entirely new league with the Cerbera providing performance figures and accolades like no other before it. Very few manufacturers were able to claim to have designed and produced their own brand new engine. This was made even more astonishing when you consider that the Cerbera was capable of achieving nearly 200mph at the time of its launch in 1996.

An entirely new and lengthened wheelbase was matched to an integral FIA roll cage providing the Cerbera with a rigid backbone structure and unparalleled levels of traction and driveability. Further race car elements were employed with the use of a twin-plate clutch, lightened fly-wheel and huge ventilated brake discs all courtesy of AP Racing.

Weighing in at just 1060Kgs and producing over 390bhp on a recent rolling road test, I had the pleasure of driving this fantastic TVR back from its previous owners home in Scotland – an amazing drive that I will remember for many years to come.

Meticulously cared for throughout its life with the previous owner being a noted TVR enthusiast and collector. I sold the Cerbera to its current keeper over 10 years ago during which time he has continued to cherish and enjoy it with all maintenance having been carried out by Andy at APM TVR, the absolute go-to man for any AJP engine.

The near perfect bodywork is finished in BMW Slate Green matched with Portland Grey and Ocean Green full hide interior together. The specification has been completed with Ocean Green wool carpets, Air Conditioning and 18″ Spider alloys.

A comprehensive and complete service history file for the car contains all original handbooks, spare keys and factory build records together with details of all MOT’s and services carried out regardless of annual mileage. Recently fully serviced by Andy McLoughlin at APM and with very few miles being completed since, this completely original and superb example offers all the benefits of developments made to the model and is ready to be enjoyed.
