1965 Jaguar E-Type Series One 4.2 OTS
This Completely Restored Series One 4.2 Roadster is in as new condition throughout – Please enquire for further details.
Celebrating its 60th anniversary, the Jaguar E-Type remains one of the most historically important and highly regarded sports cars of all time.
Continuing Jaguars competition success throughout the 1950’s, Malcolm Sayers sleek and aerodynamic design for the E-Type would prove both timeless and unbeatable when compared to the two later variants and is today, some sixty years later still regarded as a design classic the world over.
1964 saw significant updates for the E-Type and featuring an entirely revised and more powerful version of the XK engine, the Series One 4.2 is widely considered to offer the ultimate combination of E-Type style and performance. With its triple SU carburettors providing increased torque and driveability, the 4.2 also featured more comfortable seats and an all-synchro gearbox. With a top speed in excess of 153mph and revolutionary use of all-round disc brakes, Autocar Magazine tested a 4.2 E-Type in May 1965 and claimed “in its 4.2 guise the E-Type is a fast car (the fastest we have ever tested) and offers just about the easiest way to travel quickly by road.”
We are delighted to offer this immaculately presented and completely restored Jaguar 4.2 Series One E-Type Roadster. Finished in its original combination of Opalescent Silver with black leather interior, the accompanying Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirms this Series-One roadster as having been dispatched from the Browns Lane Works to Jaguar Cars of New York on 14th December 1965.
Having sourced and repatriated the car back to the UK in 2017, it was the current owners intention to restore a 4.2 Series One to the same condition as when new some fifty-six years earlier. Restoration work was entrusted to renowned specialists who embarked upon a total and comprehensive ground-up rebuild undertaking every aspect and element. The body was completely stripped to bare metal, prepared and painted to exacting standards and this level of craftsmanship and detail continued with each area of mechanical, structural and cosmetic elements being rebuilt to as-new standards as per the original brief.
Unlike many of the ‘resto-modified’ versions offered today, this immaculate Series One has remained true to its original specification throughout. Featuring either completely rebuilt or replacement factory OEM components and built to Jaguars original formula, this E-Type is presented today in as close to its original condition as possible and demands inspection to be fully appreciated.
