1956 Jaguar XK140 SE Fixed Head Coupe

Fully restored by marque specialists CMC, this XK140SE Coupe is in excellent condition throughout and demands inspection.

The accompanying Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate confirms this XK140 SE as having left Jaguars Browns Lane Works in December 1956.

Originally registered in France, this beautiful and matching numbers example was returned to the UK by an enthusiastic owner who enlisted the skills of renowned and recognised marque experts, Classic Motor Cars Ltd. of Bridgnorth to provide a complete and total body-off restoration.

Completed by CMC in 2011, details and invoices on file show thorough and extensive works carried out to chassis, body and all additional mechanical and cosmetic elements, the total cost of restoration being well in excess of £180k in today’s money.

In addition to the photographs on file which help demonstrate the extent and level of work completed by CMC, the full bare metal treatment to the body and quality of paintwork is evident from the condition which the car remains in today.

Finished in excellent British Racing Green paintwork together with Suede Green Connolly leather interior and green carpets. The interior is further enhanced with the wooden dashboard and leather trimmed factory bucket seats.

During the restoration process and in addition to conversion to RHD, the engine was fully rebuilt and uprated to run on unleaded fuel by XK specialists VSE. In order to make this XK140 more usable, a five-speed Getrag gearbox conversion was completed together with rack and pinion power steering by Guy Broad being fitted to assist low speed manoeuvring. Further additional enhancements to driving were made which included fitment of Coopercraft servo assisted braking together with an uprated cooling system complete with a specialist header tank and Kenlowe fan.

Having been specified with the factory ‘Special Equipment’ option from new, this model benefits from the addition of chrome competition wire wheels, Lucas driving lamps and twin stainless steel exhausts. Together with the further specification of the optional C-Type cylinder head, performance of this model is noticeably improved with an additional 20bhp available over the standard offering. It is also pleasing to see that the rare, original and fully rebuilt sand cast carburettors are still present with this example.

Supplied to the current owner and most recently fully serviced by CKL Developments, the current keeper has gone to great lengths with meticulous attention to detail in order to ensure this XK140SE performs to its best ability.

With the numerous upgrades and enhancements made this XK140SE Fixed Head Coupe performs and drives as well as any example available and demands inspection.
